Cato Networks SASE
information security for everyone & everywhere

What does SASE mean?

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) combines network and security functions into a single cloud-based service. It provides a comprehensive and flexible solution that enables secure access to corporate resources from anywhere. SASE solutions include SD-WAN, firewalls, threat prevention, and Zero Trust.

Cato Networks is a pioneer in building the first-ever SASE cloud platform from the ground up. Cato SASE Cloud Platform is a unified and global cloud service designed to fulfill the SASE promise: to secure and optimize business for everyone, everywhere. Cato combines security and networking capabilities specifically under the requirements of the SASE platform, thus enabling seamless deployment of current and future capabilities across both IT and the business

Global private backbone network

Cato Networks has built a global private backbone network as the foundation of SASE, which supports a global cloud network. The backbone consists of physical points of presence, i.e. PoP(Point of Presence) hosted in regional data centers, which are connected to multiple global and regional operators. The backbone network is designed to provide massive, fully encrypted, SLA-backed global connectivity.

To ensure that all users and locations benefit from the core network features, Cato optimizes traffic from all edges and to all destinations. Network traffic is routed to the closest PoPnear the user. Currently Cato´s network has over 85 global PoP´s.

Connects everything

Cato SASE combines all enterprise network traffic, WAN, Internet and cloud into a unified, optimized and flexible cloud network. Cato offers a range of cloud services that allow physical locations, end users and cloud data centers to be easily connected to the cloud network. In addition to cloud services Cato Socket also offers its own SD-WAN solution, allowing the customer to connect the physical location to the nearest Cato PoP.

Protection everywhere

Cato´s cloud platform is built from security building blocks that represent the distribution, scaling, flexibility, and enforcement of uniform security practices for everyone and everyone. Cato extends protection further to the endpoint to prevent and detect threats. Security policy and event analysis are managed centrally and uniformly from Cato´s own application.

Security blocks are based on Cato Single Pass Cloud Engine (SPACE) architecture, which combines the following features: network segmentation, FWaas, Zero Trust and threat prevention (SWG, IPS, NGAM, DNS protection, data security, RBI, ZNAT).

Cato SASE Cloud Platform is controlled from Cato Management Application that manages all policy configurations, network and security analytics, and real-time monitoring and troubleshooting. All current and future Cato -features are managed in the same way to ensure easy and fast deployment of IT and new features.

FWaas & ZeroTrust

SASE´s foundation of information security is Firewall as a Service (FWaaS). FWaaS controls traffic flow across all ports and protocols and in all directions, both across WANs (east-west) and the Internet (south-north). Firewall policies are used to segment the network based on network resources (such as VLANs) as well as identity, organizational units, applications, and services. Network segmentation, combined with continuous traffic inspection, enables Zero Trust -practice.

Zero Trust model assumes that the network environment is under constant attack and all communication, both outgoing and incoming, is under surveillance. Zero Trust model is based on the idea that nothing inside or outside the network should be automatically trusted. All users and devices must be identified and authorized before they can access corporate resources. Authentication occurs continuously and access is targeted and limited to only the required resources. This model helps prevent unauthorized access and reduces the risk of data breaches.

SASE enhances digital business

Customers use Cato SASE to eliminate complex legacy network architectures consisting of multiple security solutions and expensive network services. Cato´s unique SASEplatform provides continuous, independent, secure and optimized access to corporate resources for everyone, everywhere.
