If your operations fall within the scope of the Cybersecurity Act (124/2025) and your company is a micro, small or medium-sized operator, it is possible for your company to apply for financial support to implement the requirements set out in the Cybersecurity Act. The condition for receiving support is to belong to the above-mentioned operators who have also registered on the list of operators maintained by the authority supervising their own sector.
The objective of the financial support from the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom is to support SMEs in developing their cybersecurity to the level of the requirements set by the Cybersecurity Act. Critical infrastructure is constantly being targeted by cyber attacks that aim to affect the functioning of society. The aim of the grant is to support the strengthening of the cyber security of communication networks and information systems so that services and products that are central and important to society can be produced.
Financial support may be granted for assessment and development measures that comply with the requirements of Section 9 of the Cyber Security Act. The measures are intended to assess and develop ways in which the operator manages risks and prevents or minimizes harmful effects on the security of communications networks and information systems. Financial support can be granted for projects implemented between January 1 and December 31, 2026.
The maximum total amount of financial support granted is EUR 2,000,000. A maximum of EUR 100,000 may be granted per project. The support covers a maximum of 50 percent of the actual and approved costs of the project, in which case the project's own responsibility must be at least 50 percent.
Financial support is discretionary and is awarded to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and who are most successful in the evaluation of applications. The eligibility criteria for financial support, acceptable costs and the grant process are described in more detail in the call for applications. The funding application is open until October 16, 2025 at 4:15 PM. Rahoitushaku on auki 16.10.2025 klo 16:15 asti.
